The Winner of the 2011 Biggest Loser 12 Week Challenge, Graham Orr with
personal trainer, Mark Woodgate
After
receiving an email from Mark I decided to join the Biggest Loser 12
Week
Challenge. I’m very happy to say that not only did I lose 13.8 kgs, I
also increased
my fitness and energy levels.
I’ve
always enjoyed exercise however I became more motivated after I talked
to Mark.
During
the course of the 12 weeks I’ve learned how to eat the right food to
fuel my
body rather than for comfort.
I enjoy
my cheat day and if I’m out I can have something I like while having
the knowledge
to know that one small slip won’t bring me crashing down - and
I can always make
up for it the next day.
All
thanks to Mark, his words of encouragement and his easy to follow
exercise
progamme and nutrition advice.

2nd Place - Melissa
Larsen
Melissa lost
11kgs and 11.48% bodyweight!
Melissa receives $320 in prizes from our
sponsors
Runner up - Melissa Larsen with personal trainer, Mark Woodgate
After
a holiday in Melbourne, countless hours of
trying on clothes and only to find that nothing fit properly, I decided
that I
really needed to do something about the weight I had gained, and the
confidence
and self-esteem that I had lost in the process.
After
Melbourne,
a friend and I did Bay
Bodyfit's 4 week boot camp and I started to
lose a little weight. Even with only a couple of kilos gone, I felt
like losing
weight was possible, and the Biggest Loser 12 Week Challenge seemed
like the
ultimate opportunity to do it.
Getting
motivated to exercise every day was hard at
first, but after the first couple of weeks it became a part of my
routine.
Now
I feel healthier and fitter, so after 12 weeks of
determination and discipline, the hard work has paid off!

Flicking through the local newspaper 12
weeks ago, feeling very unhealthy
and very overweight, I
came across the advert for “The Biggest Loser 12 Week
Challenge."
I had seen the TV series and
remember some fantastic results being achieved.
I immediately started visualizing myself
achieving some amazing results. Could
I have similar success in 12
weeks?
A key factor in signing up was that I could do this from home and
fit it into my busy schedule. I
plucked
up the courage to weigh in at Bay Bodyfit health &
fitness centre - and I relunctantly dragged
myself to my first weigh
in! There I had the pleasure
to meet Mark who was very reassuring and made
me feel at ease.
My weight loss journey
began, and sticking to the eating and exercise plan I lost 3.8 kgs in
the first week alone!!! That was so
inspiring to me and it really
gave me a
boost. Every weigh in after that was successful as well.
I did have one week 7 where I gained 400 grams, but that
was actually a
good thing because it made me work even harder the next week. I remember Marks guiet
words of encouragement
that week, ”oh you've reached
a
plateau, try something different, change what you're eating.”
So I did and it worked!
The next week I lost 2.1 Kilos.
That amount of weight lost at that stage
of the programme
made me even more determined, and I began to look forward to the weigh
ins to see how well I had
done.
I have undergone an
incredible
transformation physically and what comes with that is
an emotional
high. I look and feel
100% healthier
than I did only 12 short weeks ago.
I can now run and chase and keep up with my
girls on the beach - that was one of many defining moments for
me as 12
weeks ago I could barely walk down the beach and be out of breath. The combination
of hard work, determination and Marks words of
encouragement, and an incredible weight loss
programme of nutrition and exercise has gained me the title of
2010 Biggest
Loser.
I have lost a total of 17.3 kilos
and 31 inches in total!! 12
weeks ago I could have only dreamed that I
would be writing such an amazing success story!!

Olivia Flett
(2nd place, Biggest Loser
Challenge 2010)
Olivia lost
15.75% body weight and a total of 11.7 kgs!
Olivia
received $250 cash and $260 in prizes.
Who
would have thought that a simple email
invitation would change my entire life? Not only have I
managed to lose
over 11kgs in 11 weeks (and counting) but I've completely
changed my
entire outlook on food.
I
've been very skinny before, but never had
the strength I do now. I 've also been fit before,
but couldn’t fit
into my jeans of 10 years (and 2 babies) ago. I would go
hungry for days,
only to follow it by eating rubbish for the next week! Now I
see food as
fuel, fuel for a fit, healthy and STRONG body that allows me to be a
better and
happier person.
I've always
loved exercise but can’t believe
the results I have achieved at home under the guidance and inspiration
of Mark
and this competition - it really was much easier than I
imagined! Don’t get me wrong there were days that both kids
just wouldn’t
leave me alone and I would give up my circuit in tears of
frustration.
Days that I just couldn’t pass up my husbands homemade fish and chips
and would
have to get my four year old to hide the 'tiny teddies' from mummy, but
on
those days I am now equipped with the knowledge that one small slip
wont bring
me crashing down to the ground. I can put that day aside and
start afresh
the next day (with a bit of extra cardio to make up for it!).
I also had the courage to apply for
a job, and
out of 48 applicants, several interviews and tests, I was
chosen!! I
really do believe that I would not have had the confidence to sell
myself like
I did had I not completed the Biggest Loser 12 Week
Challenge. I feel so
strong in every way!
I really dont mind where I place in the
competition because what I 've achieved to date is
the biggest
prize of all.

Before this challenge I was always a person
that had a gym
membership but never used it, was always telling myself I will start my
lifestyle change on a Monday that surprisingly never came.
Now I go to the gym regularly,
and with the support of the amazing team there have a better
understanding of
what I am eating and what it is doing to my body, it has still
been a battle
and I think it always will be for me, however with the knowledge I have
acquired
it is getting easier to make good choices most of the time.

I can't
believe how different I feel about myself
and life in general since beginning The Biggest Loser Challenge! I have
gained
so much confidence - not to mention having much more healthier eating
and
actually eating more than what I used to! I also, of course,
have so much
more energy and can now leap over buildings in a single bound! Okay
slight
exaggeration there lol Just feeling great though!
It's really
exciting going shopping now - instead
of dreading trying clothes on (even though still some work to be done!
lol) I'm
looking forward to it and if something doesn't fit me I think okay
that's all
good, just keep on with it and I'll get there! I now look
forward to
getting into my wardrobe and seeing what "new" clothes I have!
lol.
The support
and encouragement from yourself and the
staff at Bay Bodyfit has been wonderful!
Thank you so
much!

Two
years ago I signed
up for a 12 week challenge. I
was put on
a carb free, dairy free, alcohol free and grain restricted diet. I lost 15Kg.
The
first hint I was
doing more damage than good was my then 6 year old son doing a school
project
about his family and all he wrote about his mummy was that ‘she likes
protein’!
A
couple of weeks
later he started weighing himself and asking if not having breakfast
would make
him lighter...My gym
membership ran
out and I started eating carbs again.
Hello
15 kgs plus
another 5 kgs!
12
weeks ago I saw the
Grabone deal and dismissed it, my husband also saw it and started a 12
hour
encouragement campaign. I
bought it not
being sure if I could face another 12 weeks like the last challenge.
Although
I haven't
lost as much this time around, it's been a steady journey to good
health -
rather than the pursuit of a size 12. Don’t get me wrong, I still want
to be a
size 12 (at this rate I will be there by at least this time next year)
however
my children's self image and good daily habits are far more important.
Thank
you – One day my
kids will thank you too!

My
journey to weight loss started just over a year ago (September 2009).
My husband
and I had been trying to conceive to have children for 5 years and had
been
told by professionals that IVF is our best bet for having a family.
I
needed
to lose weight in order to have treatment, so I gave a range of things
a go
like weight waters, zumba, running and have recently joined Bay Bodyfit
for the
Biggest Loser 12 Week Challenge which consists of a circuit routine.
I’ve been
inspired by the staff and the lovely people I have met at the gym. I
love going
there and everyone is just so friendly, I feel healthier, happier and
to date
(since September 2009) I have now lost 32kilos!
As
a
result I can now go on the waiting list for IVF. I have loads of
confidence.
Bring on
IVF and summer!!

The Biggest Loser has taught me to take
responsibility and be accountable for my own results. It was
never about winning the title; it is about gaining control of your body
and moving towards a healthier, more active lifestyle.
I became “sober” and chocolate free for 12
weeks. It wasn’t easy to begin with, but then it just became
a way of life. I am proud of what I achieved.
Although I didn’t quite reach my goal weight, I have the tools,
inspiration, confidence and support to continue my
journey.
Decide. Commit. Succeed!

I needed to make a change in my
life - I heard about the Biggest Loser 12 Week Challenge' &
hoped this would give me more motivation to achieve a healthier
lifestyle.
I have been diagnosed with an
hiatus hernia - which means cutting out caffeine, soft drinks, orange
juice, all fatty & spicy foods & working out what foods
could be triggers which cause allot of pain. Sounds easy, you
get pain so you stop eating - no it was not working for me.
The 'Biggest Loser' gave me that 'edge' to change. Light exercise,
swimming 3 times a week & a change in what I was eating has
resulted in a weight loss of 5 kilo's & dramatically improved
my health.
These small changes I will be able to continue as part of my future.
